Preferred Clubs:
Clubs that regularly provide West Coast Swing dance bands

Aces is Bradenton's 'Home of the Blues' - they bring in bands from all across the U.S. several nights each week. On Wednesday nights 9:00pm, they have a Blues Jam night, where local musicians from surrounding areas all come together and am out some great blues music...most all of their bands play music conducive for West Coast Swing dancing... check out their calendar at www.aceslounge.com   and/or   www.myspace.com/aceslounge
They also provide links to the bands' web sites where you can hear samples of their music.

Aces offers a full bar, limited menu, and a non-smoking environment.  The dance floor is currently a particle board surface, but the managers are working as we speak to replace it with a wood floor.  The atmosphere is friendly and the music is always good!

Directions:  From Rt. 41 N/S, go to Cortez Road (toward beaches), take right onto Palma Sola Blvd., Aces is on the left.

1930 Hillview St., Southside Village, Sarasota, FL  34239  941-366-5555

The Five O'Clock Club is an all band style venue - they bring in different band venues every night of the week starting around 9:30pm until 1:00am. On Monday nights, it's Blues Jam night with Al Fuller Blues Band...there is plenty of West Coast Dancing to this music.  Check out their calendar at: www.5oclockclub.net.  They also provide links to the bands' web sites where you can hear samples of their music.

The Five O'Clock Club offers a full bar, no food, and is a smoking environment, although the ventilation works well and the smoke is not bothersome (unless you're sitting right next to someone smoking).  The dance floor is terrazzo, and fairly small - maybe 10 couples at most, but danceable.  The atmosphere is fun and the Monday Night Blues Jam is worth the trip.

Directions:  From Rt. 41 South, go toward Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Hillview St. is next right after hospital, Five O'Clock club is a little ways down on the left.

Cortez Kitchen:  This is an outdoor tiki bar type place on Sarasota Bay, Bradenton side.  Open Thursday thru Sunday, you will find local blues bands playing here from 6:30pm - 10:30pm.  Check the monthly calendar for when suitable bands will be playing  music suitable for West Coast Swing dancing.  The floor is wood decking, not the best for dancing but it works, and the atmosphere is awesome ..very relaxing.  They do have food and drink.

Directions:  Go to Cortez Road, head towards Bradenton Beach, to the intersection at 119th St. W. and take a left onto 119th St. W.  Follow this road to end and you will see Cortez Kitchen on your right. There is plenty of parking.

O'Leary's:  This is an outdoor tiki bar type place, on Sarasota Bay.  Every Tuesday night you will find The Alternators Blues Band playing here from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.  They do play a lot of blues suitable for West Coast Swing dancing.  The floor is wood decking, not the best for dancing but it works, and the atmosphere is awesome and the view is awesome...very relaxing.  They do have food and drink.

Directions:  From 41 South, go past the Ritz, straight through the intersection with lights, around the curve to the left and take a right into the second entrance of the Marina Jack parking lot - after parking walk toward the left to find the walkway out to O'Leary's.  You will see O'Leary's to the left on the water.
