DONNA PURCELL grew up in New England where she began her dance career as a child in ballet, pointe, jazz and tap. She continued her training as a young adult participating in dance seminars and workshops throughout her career. Also during that time, Donna spent 13 years as a Choreographer / Performer (dancer, singer, actress) in a semi-professional dinner theatre outside of Boston, MA. During that time, she also choreographed many musicals for colleges, theatre groups, etc. in the area and taught private and semi-private lessons in ballet, tap, jazz and theatre dancing. These were some of the best experiences of her life.
In 1991 Donna and her family moved to Florida; she left her New England theatre dance career behind. However, in October of 2007, she fell in love with a new style of dancing and started a new dance career in West Coast Swing Dancing that continues on today. Donna began her training participating in as many workshops and group lessons as she could find with Lee Holt, John Henning, Bobby Caudill, and many others...she also began private lessons with Bobby Caudill, which she continues with today. It wasn't long before she knew she wanted to work towards a dance career in West Coast Swing dancing...teaching, competing, performing, choreography.

Donna and Bruce DeLille began a partnership to pursue their common goals to promote West Coast Swing dancing. They named their Partnership West Coast Swing Dance Exchange (WCSDE).

WCSDE launched a West Coast Swing weekly dance in St. Petersburg, FL. The weekly dance included group instruction, taught by Bruce and sometimes, John Henning. Location issues ended this endeavor.

Donna and Bruce prepared to start competing together in Strictly Swing and individually in Jack & Jill, ProAm and Masters Jack & Jill (Donna). They began taking private lessons with Bobby Caudill and participating in workshops with top professionals.

Donna and Bruce competed together in Strictly Swing Novice for the first time at the Boston Tea Party, Boston, MA, March 2008...competing at 1-2 events per month. They begin taking private lessons with top professionals Jordan Frisbee, Sophy Kdep, and Robert Royston. They continue taking private lesons with Bobby Caudill and participating in workshops with top professionals.

WCSDE launched a West Coast Swing monthly dance every 3rd Friday of the month at Sara Dance Center in Sarasota, FL. The monthly dance includes beginner/intermediate lesson by a different guest instructor each month, and dancing until whenever to the best WCS dance music in the Bay Area by a different guest DJ each month. |
